Karlovy Vary is one of the most popular spa towns in Europe, a true treasure chest combining the best of various eras. Stunning architecture, countless mineral springs, legendary museums, and delightful cuisine. Naturally, it’s impossible to see all the wonders of Karlovy Vary in one day, but we’ve put together a list of must-visit places to get a taste of this proud Czech town.
To fully immerse yourself in the beauty and magic of Karlovy Vary, begin your journey at the Feel Karlovy Vary Cinema, where you can watch a 15-minute film introducing the city’s landmarks. Located in the heart of the town, this cinema offers a great starting point for exploring the region.
One cannot visit Karlovy Vary without seeing its world-famous mineral springs. Start at the Geyser Colonnade, where a real geyser shoots up to 12 meters, with water temperatures reaching up to 73°C (careful not to burn yourself!). Close by is the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, home to incredible sculptures and frequent organ concerts.
Next, visit the Market Colonnade, a wooden structure in Swiss style that encloses the healing springs. A short walk away is the largest colonnade in Karlovy Vary, the Mill Colonnade, with five therapeutic springs.
Between the Market and Mill Colonnades, you will find the Feel Karlovy Vary Cinema, located at Lázenská Street 2075/14. Here, you can watch a short film to plan the rest of your day in this picturesque town.
Leave the springs behind and take a stroll through Dvořák Park, located in the center of Karlovy Vary, named after the famous Czech composer Antonín Dvořák. Another beautiful spot is Smetana Park, named after the great composer Bedřich Smetana.
If you’re short on time, visit one of the town’s famous museums, such as the Jan Becher Museum, dedicated to the creator of the famous herbal liqueur. Or, explore the Moser Glassworks, where you can witness the production of world-renowned glass products.
After a busy day, take time to unwind in the magical evening atmosphere of Karlovy Vary. Thousands of lights illuminate the town, creating a special charm. Enjoy a meal in one of the many cafes or restaurants and let the day fade away in this enchanting town.
